The Helen Beebe Center was established more than 50 years ago by the late Helen Hulick Beebe, the Helen Beebe Speech and Hearing Center was founded on one overriding principle:

That through love, guidance and hard work, deaf children can learn to use their residual hearing to develop speech and language and remain in the mainstream of life.

At this time the Center is no longer providing Auditory-Verbal therapy services. The mission of the center is now preserving the legacy of Helen Beebe by providing Scholarships and grants to support the advancement of Certified Auditory-Verbal Therapists.

As a non-profit organization, the center had a special purpose:

To teach children to use their residual hearing in order to distinguish words from other sounds, put words into phrases, to use hearing to modulate their own voices, and achieve natural speech and voice quality.

Our son has received therapy at the Center for over three years now.  It has made a tremendous difference in his life.  He was born deaf, and received a cochlear implant at 19 months of age.  But cochlear implants are not much use without excellent auditory rehabilitation and training.   He is making wonderful progress in closing his speech and language gap.  It certainly will be a great day when he climbs on the school bus with his two sisters.  His cochlear implant and the Beebe Center’s auditory-verbal therapy have made it possible.
